Every so often, I get an idea in my "imaginary mind" and if it's not expressed, it tends to bounce around and not go away. I thought about a way of expressing these ideas, and came up with "an open letter to the universe" which was shortened to "an open letter to".
It doesn't matter if the subject of the letter ever reads it. What matters is, the idea has been expressed out of my head and into the greater world, where it may do something, or not, as the universe sees fit.
So, if you're reading this, I hope you are entertained or amused or bemused or irritated or inspired by the entries here, because that's what they're for.
I am an ENTJ with a vengeance. I think that the "Fieldmarshal" variant description, written by David Keirsey, was written for me personally.
Also, I'm a double (Sun & Moon) Taurus on the Aries/Taurus cusp. Most days, it seems like the astrological predictions in the newspaper are written for me personally.
I must live a magical life, mustn't I, having things written for me personally by people who have no inkling of my existence?
I have two cats which I acquired from the Plainfield Animal Shelter (http://www.plainfieldhumane.com/). The older of the two is a gray and white tabby named Gia, who was named Guiseppe when I adopted her, because the folks at the shelter thought she was a boy. I have learned over the last 2 years she is The Ever-Potent Incarnation Of Evil Upon The Face Of This Our Earth. When she has truly lived up to her evil potential, I address her as Gia Maria Francesca Bulimia Hairball Extraordinaire. This happens at least once a day. She was approximately 4 years old when I adopted her, and she had been living in a 2 foot square cage for approximately 6 months before I brought her home. To say that she was hostile when she came to live with me is saying that George Bush might need some remedial education and a lifetime supply of Antabuse.
The younger of the two is Bucky. Bucky is 2 years old, all black with golden eyes. He is a pony. No, he's a horse. The kind of horse they use to plow furrows in fields. I think I am going to sell rides on him, or I would if he would allow strangers to touch him. Bucky was part of a litter of all black cats that came in to the shelter, and the litter was named after the characters of the "Spanky And Our Gang" serials of the 1930's. They had Darla and Spanky and Froggy and Alfalfa and... my little (ahem) bundle of excitement, Buckwheat. I decided to shorten his name to Bucky, so he could be Buckminster Buckyball or The Buckinator or Buck-a-mow-mow or whatever fun permutation I happen to think up. He is affectionate with extreme unction and scared of everything. He also spent 6 months in a cage before I got him, because he is gluten intolerant and had fabulously splashy diarrhea, which prevented people less foolish than I from adopting him.
If you see a pattern here, where I am "the receiver of all cats that no one else wants," award yourself the kewpie doll. Every time I see that Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer Christmas TV special that features The Island Of Misfit Toys, my heart grows two sizes.
I'm the kind of person who likes quotes. So sue me. No, don't, I hate being a litigant. Howzabout you either read the quotes below, or don't, and we leave it at that?
"You must not lose faith in humanity. Humanity is an ocean; if a few drops of the ocean are dirty, the ocean does not become dirty." -- Mahatma Gandhi
"You can get into a habit of thought in which you enjoy making fun of all those other people who don’t see things as clearly as you do. We have to guard carefully against it." -- Carl Sagan
"A good leader is a person who takes a little more than his share of the blame and a little less than his share of the credit." -- John C. Maxwell
"Nobody can be exactly like me. Sometimes even I have trouble doing it." -- Tallulah Bankhead
